07:44 am - Apple Photo Pro - Putting the pieces together
It's been quietly overlooked amongst all the hubbub about the new iPod, but there's another Apple Media Event scheduled for next week. Macworld reports:

Apple Computer is once again gathering the press together as it rolls out new innovations. The latest invitation-only event will be held in New York City on October 19, 2005 on the eve of PhotoPlus Expo. Apple doesn’t say exactly what the press conference will be about, but the invitation sent to MacCentral asks to join them as “we unveil Apple’s latest pro innovations.”

I blogged earlier about a rumour of a product called Apple Photo Pro. It seems like this might be it. Here's the thinking:

0. It totally makes sense as a product.
1. The press release describes the announcements as "Apple's latest pro innovations", and such an app would almost certainly be a Pro App like Final Cut, Soundtrack and Motion.
2. The event is colocated with a major professional photography expo. Apple has been known in the past to announce pro apps at relevant pro conferences - for example Final Cut announcements at NAB - and they don't hold Media Events in New York just for fun.

02:13 pm - SFO
Ah, airport life. There's a certain state of mind you can get into which makes it entirely bearable. That's always helped along by a power socket and a $10 wifi ticket.

Buzz and I had brunch at Zazie on Cole St. this morning, then drove out to the Marin headlands and took some pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm going to make a little sticker for the back of my camera which says "CHECK ISO!". I'm always cranking it up to 1600 for something or other and then forgetting to reset it to my usual 200 when I'm done. Then I forget to check and start shooting the next day at 1600...when it's not usually necessary.

It's been a great week, but I'm really looking forward to being home. I think there are some girls back in Scotland who are looking forward to my return too :-)
