12:35 pm - Post-Macworld refractory period I'm not sure what to make of (what I know of) the Macworld announcements. Here are some bullet points:
- That Apple laptops are now at or beyond CPU price/performance parity with comparable Wintel machines is more significant than it appears today.
- The loss of FireWire 800 will continue to smart until someone demonstrates that an ExpressCard card can take up the slack.
- Could it be true that ExpressCard will enable two external displays?
- The remote control is an utter gimmick handy addition for presentations, but and the built-in iSight is welcome.
- I could not care less about the loss of dual-layer burning on the superdrive, nor the loss of the modem, but the drop in vertical screen resolution hurts.
- The iWork '06 upgrade is probably the most disappointing.
- iPhoto: As long as Apple has .mac, it can't admit that Flickr is better and that makes me happy.
- If I had known that the DTKs would be replaced for free with an Intel iMac, I would have bought one and my software would be Intel-ready.

03:23 pm - iTunes Spyware Whilst I think the new mini-store is a reasonably nifty addition to iTunes, there should have been a gigantic novelty-sized notice that it transmits information about your listening to somewhere...
I mean, just so we don't have to suffer the self-righteousness on Boing Boing......
