MacWorld Fever
MacWorld fever is well and truly upon me. Everyone's always going nuts about New Towars!!!1 but I'm always much more interested in new and updated software.

So this was an actual conversation from earlier:

Carolyn: "Anything happening next week that I need to know about?"
Me: "Well, Tuesday is MacWorld so from 5pm onwards, I'll be pretty much non-functional. Sitting in front of my computer drooling and cheering and generally going spastic over stuff..."
Carolyn: "So how is that different from any other night?"

I should really get out more.

I agree that Apple's software announcements are more exciting than hardware ones. There have been a few notable exceptions (usb, airport, ipod), but in general, I prefer cool new software because it's usually something I can take advantage of without having to spend a fortune.

Where "without having to spend a fortune" also incorporates the notion of "can sneak into the house without my wife noticing".........

;-)

I expect I shall be doing something very similar that day.

I'm loving the nostalgia buzz I'm getting from your userpic :-)

Heh. It is cool. Sadly, a friend who has a better memory than me (and better eyesight!) pointed out that "Program: Livejournal" wouldn't have fitted within the character limit for a program name on the ZX Spectrum!

Oh well. It makes a good general purpose geekiness picture. I miss my Speccy, it was the first computer I ever owned/programmed. :)

I haven't actually heard anyone talk about new towers. I thought Steve would be happy with once-a-year updates; it makes inventory management easier!

The thing I'm most excited about is the iTunes Music Store in Australia. Of course, no-one else cares... ;)
